I must admit to having been a Greens supporter and climate activist, lobbying politicians in Canberra as part of Citizens' Climate Lobby, until 2019. Being a biologist and not expert in climate science, I just "believed the Science" as presented to me!! It was only when my expertise was in the field they were BSing about that I woke up to the lies, and as Phillip says "fool me once...". I am now a climate agnostic, until I can get my head around which "experts" to trust. I have come across others who have only recently gone through the looking glass from the Left, so there might be more of us than you think!

We all have our legacy belief systems, usually formed in our 20’s, and reinforced by our exposure to the algorithms of social media feeding our brains relentlessly with information that supports the narrative. It’s also so much easier to just go along with the hustle, often even once we know it exists, because it validates our very comfortable western lifestyles, careers etc, and keeps us in the in-crowd of all the “right people”. The Dunning-Kruger effect is an extremely powerful thing. The climate hustle has been that since ~2006, and thankfully Covid has woken a lot of people up to it, as it literally wrote the rule book for how to manipulate a planet into accepting an incoherent, nihilistic, misanthropic, globalist scheme to reimagine the world as some sort of digital, authoritarian dystopia. The sad reality is that the planet is going to change, and humans are powerless to do anything about it, but desperately want to believe in the magical thinking that somehow if we “decarbonise” we can change the weather because humans are just that powerful. We imagine the Aztecs as lunatics for sacrificing their captured enemies and slaves to the rain gods to save their crops, yet our wise men are prepared to sacrifice an entire civilisation, create food scarcity, kill millions and destroy the lives of 100x more simply chasing a belief system based on groupthink, powered by computer models developed by those paid to produce data in favour of the belief system, where everyone daring to point out the racket are cancelled, called “deniers” and otherwise ostracised. It was predicted in the 19th century, and now we see it happening, currently affecting some areas of the world more than others. I see plenty of scientists arguing both sides. Time will be the arbiter of who is right, and perhaps quite soon.
The big difference from covid is that we hear a lot of talk but see little action. That's good, because thinking we can run industrial economies just on electricity from wind and solar is a fantasy.
